The Moses Chronicles Volume 1 Bondage by H. B. Moore

Most of us are familiar with the Bible story of baby Moses who was found floating down the river by Pharaoh’s daughter. H. B. Moore in her recent novel The Moses Chronicles Volume 1 Bondage explores the story of Moses as a young adult. With meticulous historical research and captivating narrative, H. B. Moore creates an authentic and compelling picture of what life may have been like for Moses living a privileged life among the pharaohs of Egypt.

Like many of Moore’s historical novels, Bondage quickly draws us into an absorbing story that introduces us to strong, believable characters and stories. I like how Moore cleverly contrasted Moses’s experiences throughout the novel with his siblings Miriam and Aaron who live as Hebrew slaves.

While much of the story line is fictional, Moore does an exceptional job of recreating the intense drama and feelings that must have existed between the Egyptians and their Hebrew slaves. She captured well the feelings of fear and hopeless that slaves may have felt toward their masters, and the indifference and careless of the Egyptians toward their slaves.

I loved Miriam, I felt for Moses, and I look forward to reading futures volumes of The Moses Chronicles. H. B. Moore has delivered a great story that both entertained me and helped me appreciate Moses for the complicated person he was. H. B. Moore gave me a complimentary copy of The Moses Chronicles Volume 1 Bondage by H. B. Moore for my candid review.
