I really like reading Karen Witemeyer’s books and Heart on the Line was another captivating novel. As part of her Ladies of Harper’s Station series, Heart on the Line introduces us to Grace, the telegraph operator in Harper Station. She came to Harper’s Station to hide, but an ominous telegraph message alerts her that danger is headed her way. But more is headed her way than that message. So begins story of seeking peace, acceptance, and love. A story of affection and action, Heart on the Line has great characters, and unexpected plot twists.
Witemeyer creates a story of overcoming pain and learning how to heal through her genuine characters in Heart on the Line. I look forward to reading the next book by Karen Witemeyer. Bethany House gave me a complimentary copy of Heart on the Line by Karen Witemeyer for my candid review.
The newest novel by Karen Witemeyer No Other Will Do is an intense novel. Emma, a smart and capable woman, has created a place where women can come together, be safe, and help provide for each other at Harper’s Station. Everything is going well until an outside threat endangers everyone. To protect her friends and enterprise Emma enlists the help of Malachi, a man she knows from her past. As the trouble escalates, Emma wonder’s if even a man’s help is enough.
Witemeyer has created a unique story of women helping women. A story where the strength and ingenuity of individuals help the whole community to prosper. With strong, eccentric characters Witemeyer tells a story of strength, renewal, and hope.
I’m an avid fan of novels by Karen Witemeyer but No Other Will Do didn’t keep my interest as I expected. The plot was intense, the characters strong and believable, and the story well written, but I found myself missing the witty humor that is so quintessential in Witemeyer’s other historical novels. Karen Witemeyer delivers another intense and emotional story with her newest novel A Worthy Pursuit. As I fan of Witemeyer, I enjoyed the story of Charlotte Atherton, a dedicated teacher who flees with several of her students after the private boarding school where she teaches unexpectedly closes.
With three children in tow, Charlotte struggles to disappear to protect her charges. Stone, an experienced retriever, traces Charlotte and the children on an isolated homestead. Expecting to quickly recover the granddaughter of his employer, Stone finds himself confronted with a completely different situation than he expected. While trying to sort through his unexpected findings, Stone discovers that Charlotte is really the woman he wants to retrieve, and the children need his protection from unscrupulous people intending harm rather than help.
With an electric mix of characters, Witemeyer creates a touching story of escape, recovery, healing, and love. Charlotte is strong, yet vulnerable. Stone is hard, yet genuine. Lily is adorable. And the other supporting characters bring their own flare to the story. Mixing touching relationships and broken past relationships, Witemeyer shows us how the everyday magic of love and caring for each other can work miracles and make people whole again.
With an intense, yet touching plot, and plenty of unexpected twists, Witemeyer has written another story sure to become a favorite. I thoroughly enjoyed reading A Worthy Pursuit and highly recommend it. Bethany House gave me a complimentary copy of A Worthy Pursuit by Karen Witemeyer for my candid review.
